Help revitalize Calvin H. French Memorial Chapel.

French Memorial Chapel is the soul of Hastings College. Certainly it is where many on campus have worshiped. And yet, the Chapel means much more than that to Hastings College alumni as well as the Hastings community.

After 74 years, the building named in honor of former College President Calvin H. French needs repairs to its iconic arched windows as well as stage rigging, lighting and control systems, other windows, and curtains. The cost for these necessary improvements is $630,000.

Gifts of all amounts are significant to preserve this Hastings College landmark!

    Calvin H. French Memorial Chapel

Since its dedication in 1950, the Chapel is where many friends of the College have experienced new student orientations, listened to world-class musicians and speakers, danced during skits, performed musicals, celebrated campus achievements, mourned loved ones, and launched friends into marriages.

In 2022, a hailstorm damaged the Chapel’s eight iconic arched windows. Although insurance will replace the glass window panes, the wooden frames have deteriorated since their installation in 1950 and cannot hold the new panes.

Additional needs include replacing 15 double-hung windows throughout the building; updating stage rigging; installing new stage, house lights and control systems; and installing new flame-resistant stage curtains.

All donors or groups of donors giving $10,000 or more will be recognized on a special plaque.

Together we can ensure this building gets the love it deserves and is preserved well into the future.
